You can file an LLC online in Alaska in an afternoon. What the filing does not give you is an operating agreement that fits your business, a plan for what happens when a partner wants out, or someone who will answer the phone when a question comes up six months later.
Kaden forms LLCs for Valley contractors, trades, guides, retailers, and professionals, and he sets them up so they actually protect you.
What it takes to form an LLC in Alaska
You file Articles of Organization with the Alaska Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing, appoint a registered agent with an Alaska street address, and get an Alaska business license. Within six months you file an initial report, and every two years after that a biennial report. As of 2026, the state filing fee is $250 and the business license is $50 per year. Your city or borough may require its own license as well.
Those are the state's requirements. What the state does not require, and what most people skip, is an operating agreement.
Why the operating agreement matters more than the filing
The operating agreement is the contract between the owners and the company. It sets how profits are split, who can sign for the company, what happens if a member dies or divorces or wants to leave, and how disputes are resolved. Without one, Alaska's default LLC statute fills in the blanks, and its defaults are rarely what the owners would have chosen.
Most of the partner disputes Kaden litigates trace back to an LLC that never had an operating agreement, or had a generic one downloaded from the internet that did not address the situation that came up.

LLC Formation questions
How much does it cost to start an LLC in Alaska?
The state charges $250 to file Articles of Organization and $50 per year for a business license (2026 figures). Attorney fees for a complete formation with an operating agreement are a flat fee that Kaden will quote up front.
How long does it take?
Online filings with the state are often processed within a few business days. The full setup, including the operating agreement, usually takes one to two weeks.
Do I need a registered agent?
Yes. Every Alaska LLC needs a registered agent with a physical Alaska address to receive legal papers. You can be your own agent if you have an Alaska street address, or use a service.
I already have an LLC. Can you fix what I set up wrong?
Yes. Adding an operating agreement, correcting membership records, or cleaning up filings for an existing LLC is common work.
